QUICKFIRE FRINGE: #3. An Act of Kindness
★★★☆☆
Two young strangers meet at a bus stop one day. And then another day. And another.
Leila is discontent with her work and where she is in life and Martin is dealing with his mother's cancer and the two gradually get to know each other over the course of brief conversations each day.
It's a quietly heartwarming play filled with little intimacies, subtly capturing a lot about gender expectations and the pressure they put on people. Working with minimal set, the play wholly relies on the two performances at its core and despite staying at a generally similar pace throughout, the chemistry and thoughtfulness of the actors manages to carry us through til the end.
